Something unusual that really did happen at The Warehouse was reported in the Los Angeles Times of May 5, 1985.
The world was still at the height of the Cold War in those days, and it emerged that FBI counterintelligence agent John Hunt met the young and glamorous Russian woman Svetlana Ogorodnikova – an informant and potential double agent codenamed “Marie” – numerous times here in 1982 and early 1983.
Svetlana became too attached to the married Hunt it seems, and any plans fizzled away. Hunt resigned from the FBI soon after, but a couple of years later Ogorodnikova and her husband Nikolai were arrested on charges of espionage and conspiring with another FBI agent to pass information to the Soviet Union.
